EXECUTIVE COACHING

Benefits of an Executive Coach

When Gary took over Johnson Health Center in 2014 as the interim CEO before being appointed direct in 2015, there was no blue print for leading a struggling center. He was, however, driven on creating an environment that would bring purpose and fulfillment to employees. He wanted the Johnson Health Center to become an employer of choice by incorporating the concepts of the Impact Leadership model into the everyday practices of the center.

As a result, Johnson Health Center became the first ever Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) to achieve the Employer of Choice recognition in 2016. In 2017, the center was named a “Great Place to Work” and in 2018, a top 10 “Emerging Small Business” in Central Virginia. In 2023 they were named non-profit of the year and in 2024, Best Large Employer in the Central Virginia community.

As of 2024, his center had more than doubled patient access while creating leaders at all levels in a community who now views Johnson Health Center as one of the top employers in the region.

Today, Gary focuses much of his time coaching other executives on building out their own success and has enjoyed working with coaching clients in many different industries. He was selected for a best in business award for 2024 in the Best Leader/Mentor category in Central Virginia.

I came to Gary of Impact2Lead (I2L) as someone so strongly set in their ways and unwilling to be flexible at all. I was a "my way or the highway" type of individual, which as expected doesn't work well in a workplace environment. Through many coaching sessions, and working through the I2L workbook, I wouldn't say that I am "reformed" by any means, I do still have my moments, but I did learn the value in listening and allowing my team to introduce me to new ways of thinking, problem solving, and success. I learned that every single person has something to offer and that if I just listen we can make some truly magical things happen. People are happier, work harder, and overall the workplace is a much more inviting and creative place. Gary really changed my leadership style and professional outlook for the better. I have learned to trust my team and in doing so we have created things I am so unbelievably proud of and that would not have been able to happen without me learning how to not lose myself while also leading people who WANT to work for and with me.

Chief Executive Officer, Digital Media and Marketing Business

Working with Gary Campbell has been a transformative experience, both professionally and personally. From the beginning, he saw and believed in the leadership potential within me—often before I saw it myself. That kind of belief gave me the confidence to step into greater roles and become a stronger leader. Perhaps most impactful has been his commitment to community. Gary has provided a welcoming and inspiring space for leaders to gather, collaborate, and sharpen one another. That kind of generosity and vision is rare—and something I’m deeply grateful to be a part of. If you're looking for a business coach who sees the best in you, lives out his values, and creates opportunities for others to thrive, I can’t recommend Gary highly enough.

Sales Executive in the Employee Benefits Industry

The Structure

Gary took steps to build out his own development plan and followed it closely along the path to both organizational and individual achievements and recognition. He now shares this experience in the form of 1:1 coaching with C-Suite executives including Chief Executive Officers.

Being a highly successful CEO for over ten years, Gary understands that executives who get to this level do not arrive there due to being ineffective. Quite the opposite, they are in the role due to successes they have enjoyed along the way. Being in a senior leadership role can be isolating due to the nature of the position. No one knows this better than Gary and he is able to come alongside the executive and be a trusted advisor whether working on specific organizational and development issues or being a sounding board in the decision-making process. Regardless, Gary offers an experienced based perspective to join executives on their leadership journey no matter where they are in their career. He especially appreciates what it means to become a CEO for the first time.

“I remember when I took over in 2014 and wishing I knew where to get a playbook for this. When I get the chance, I will make sure new leaders have access to the one I built” - Gary Campbell

As a coach, Gary will partner with candidates to help them outline their approach to successfully lead their organization while professionally developing themselves in the process. The topics of discussion include but are not limited to:

  • Developing a project plan and knowing what/how to tackle broad issues

  • Building a vision

  • Assessing the current leadership structure along with current state of the department/division/organization

  • How to optimize relationships with those you report to

  • How to optimize relationships with those that report to you

  • Building and nurturing board relations

  • Brand recognition and credibility

  • Developing a true business intelligence approach

  • Having those difficult conversations

  • The importance of core values to the overall strategic planning process

  • The importance of networking with peers and how to set it up

The upside to working with Gary is he lived it and still does as the CEO of an award-winning organization. Get started today!
